William R. Wolfe, M.D. | Dahlia J. Irby, M.D. Allan A. Weber, M.D. Dr. Donald McCarren's lifelong interest in medicine and passion for neurology is reflected in his practice. Since founding Advanced Neurologic Care Associates in 1997, Dr. McCarren has brought on two fellow neurology residents who trained with Dr. McCarren, Drs. Shachar and Wolfe. Drs. Irby and Weber joined soon thereafter and all five physicians were trained by Dr. Robert Schwartzman, a world renowned neurologist and chairman of the Department of Neurology at Drexel University. Dr. McCarren received his medical degree at The Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1989. He completed his medical training at Thomas Jefferson University where he served as chief neurology resident in his last year. Dr. McCarren is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) and by the American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine. He maintains memberships in several medical societies including the American Academy of Neurology, the American Medical Association, The American Osteophathic Association, the American Association of Electrodiagnostic Medicine, and the Pennsylvania Medical Society. He has received several prestigious awards throughout his career, including a Pew Charitable Trust grant for a computer-assisted instruction on dementia and an award from the Alumni International Fellowship Committee. He also holds a copyright for a computer program on dementia. Dr. McCarren has varied interests in neurology including peripheral nerve disorders, ADD, and the dementing illnesses. He serves as a principal investigator in trials relevant to these areas of interest. He holds a teaching position at Drexel University and manages an active practice in Collegeville, Pennsylvania, and Voorhees, New Jersey.
Dr. Or Shachar received his medical degree from Boston University School of Medicine in 1991. He completed his internship in internal medicine at New York University and Bellevue Hospital Center in New York City, and completed his residency in neurology at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. In his final year of residency, he served as chief resident. He then went on to complete a fellowship in clinical neurophysiology at Allegheny University Hospitals in Philadelphia in 1995. Dr. Shachar served as assistant professor of neurology at Allegheny University Hospitals from 1986 to 1998. In 1998, he began private practice. He maintains membership in the American Academy of Neurology, the American Epilepsy Society, and the American Association of Electrodiagnostic Medicine (AAEM). Dr. Shachar is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) and by the American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine.
Dr. Wolfe received his bachelor's degree in business administration with highest honors from Drexel University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and received his medical degree from the Temple University School of Medicine, also located in Philadelphia. He then undertook an internship in internal medicine at the Lankenau Hospital, followed by a residency at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia as well. Dr. Wolfe then completed a fellowship in neurophysiology at the Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. After several years in private practice, he joined Advanced Neurologic Care Associates, PC, in March of 2001. Dr. Wolfe is board-certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN), by the American Board of Clinical Neurophysiology (ABCN) for subspecialties in EEG, evoked potentials, and sleep medicine, and he is also certified by the American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine (ABEM). He is a member of the American Academy of Neurology, the American EEG Society, the Camden County Medical Society, and the Medical Society of New Jersey. In addition, he is a fellow of the American Association in Elecrodiagnostic Medicine. He is clinical assistant professor in the Department of Neurology of Drexel University College of Medicine, and clinical instructor, Department of Neurology, Jefferson Medical College. Dr. Wolfe is also principal investigator and sub-investigator in several ongoing clinical research trials in our Voorhees, New Jersey, office.
Dr. Irby received a bachelor's degree in biology at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., then went on to receive her medical degree from Hahnemann University School of Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Her internship in internal medicine was completed at the Lankenau Hospital, in Wynnewood, Pennsylvania, followed by a residency in neurology at MCP/Hahnemann University Hospital, in Philadelphia. Dr. Irby was a medical house officer at Friends Hospital before completing a fellowship in clinical neurophysiology at MCP/Hahnemann University Hospitals. She is a member of the American Academy of Neurology (AAN) and the American Association of Electrodiagnostic Medicine (AAEM). Dr. Irby has been involved in many research projects and has co-authored several articles and presentations. She joined Advanced Neurologic Care Associates in July 2002.
Dr. Weber earned his bachelor's degree in chemistry from Allegheny College and received his medical degree from the Univeristy of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. He completed his internship at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland, and then practiced general medicine for four years with the U.S. Navy. He spent two years with the fleet and was awarded the Navy Commendatioin Medal. He completed his military career with a two year tour of duty with the Marine Corps. Dr. Weber then pursued civilian training in neurology at MCP Hahnemann University, and completed his education as the chief resident. Dr. Weber became board-certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) in 2002. He joined Advanced Neurologic Care Associates, PC, in April 2003.
